This tutorial will guide you through the process of playing Divx/Xvid content on your Xbox 360 Console and stream the content over your network
Requirements:
An Xbox 360 Console (Must have a memory card/hard drive installed). The Xbox 360 must be capable of signing onto Xbox-Live and have the latest Dashboard Update installed. Your Xbox 360 Console will need to be on the same network as the PC you will be installing TVersity onto.
TVersity - Please download the "Free Edition" from HERE.
Minimum Requirements (Taken from the TVersity Webpage)
- Pentium III 700 Mhz or better (Pentium 4 2.8 Ghz with support for Hyper Threading is recommended)
- 256 MB of memory or more (1GB recommended)
- 100 MB of disk space (At least 4 GB of free space is recommended for cache area of transcoded media)
- Windows XP / 2000 / 2003 / Vista
- DirectX 9.0 or higher
- Windows Media Player 9.0 or higher
- For transcoding to WMV (Xbox 360) WMP11 is recommended (otherwise WMV encoding can be done via ffmpeg instead of DirectShow)
- Audio enabled on the computer running the software
- Macromedia Flash version 8 or higher for the GUI
You will also need a Divx/Xvid video file for testing purposes
Installing TVersity Software
Once you have downloaded TVersity....Run the installer and you will see the following....Click "Next"
Accept the License Agreement and hit "Next"
Decide whether or not you'd like the additional toolbar...hit "Next"..
Install TVersity to the Default Location - "Next"...
Installation commences....once complete you'll come to following window - please make sure the "Run the TVersity Configuration Wizard when i click Next" box is checked as in the Picture below...then hit "Next"..
and Next again...
You'll come to the following screen. Please make sure your window looks exactly as mine does.....Once all ok click on "Configure"...
Click "Next" to the following window..
Click "Finish"...
Choose whether or not you'd like to stream other Web Sources and then hit "Next"
We are not going to Transcode any media with TVersity, please uncheck the Codec Pack installation as i have done in the following image and then hit "Next"
Do not uncheck the following two options and then click on "Finish"
You should now see the following Window....click on the "Settings" button i have highlighted below....
I have Outlined in RED the most important setting on this screen. Make sure that "Tversity Media Server" is running, If not then click on the "Restart Sharing" button i have highlighted in green. If that still doesn't work for you, restart your PC and try again...
Click on the "Library" button as marked below - Then click "Movies" so it is highlighted and then hit "Edit"....
You should now be at the Update Media Source window, next to "Type" hit the little drop down arrow to the right and make sure to select "FOLDER" as below...
...Click "Browse", and then browse to the location of your Xvid/Divx File(s) and hit OK (you can browse to network shares aswell).Finally confirm that the "Video" box is checked as i have marked in green below. Your window should look similar to mine below ( i have blanked out my folder location)...
Hit "Update" and TVersity will go ahead and update it's content database....
OPTIONAL: You can go ahead and do the same for your Music and Pictures by selecting each one and editing the settings accordingly.
