REMOVING THE OUTER SHELL

First Step is to remove the front face plate – Easiest way to remove is by using your finger to pull out towards the area outline below – Give it a good pull towards you with your finger, and the whole face plate should come out.

Now turn the Xbox 360 Console upside down (you can tell from looking at the XBOX sign on the side cover that it is upside down)….Now whilst pulling up on the grey cover from the front, use the Xbox Opening tool and push into the vent holes outlined in the pictures to follow (if you look closely through the holes you can see where the clips are (6 clips for the top cover, and 6 for the bottom)
Start at the front of the case, and work your way back gently raising the cover at each clip release, here’s the next clip location
And the last one on this side – Move onto the other side once you have released all 3 clips

Now that you have the bottom cover plate out of the way, it’s time to move onto the top one, which is a bit trickier to remove as 3 of the 6 clips are not in plain sight!
Pull up on the front cover with one hand, whilst placing the case open tool as in the image below and pushing inwards as displayed. This should release one clip edge. Apply the same technique for the other side.

Then it’s just a matter of releasing the other 4 clips (same technique applies as per the bottom cover) I will point out the one clip which is hidden, and to get access to it, you need to remove the little grey feet support at the rear – I have pointed this out in the picture below:

Now you have both covers removed, it’s time to open the rear section of the console

Start with the right hand side…..Line up the small holes highlighted in the picture with the case open tool’s key – it should line up perfectly. Align the tabs and press the tool inwards, you should hear a crisp crackling noise, which confirms the release of the tabs is successful…..at this stage it’s a good idea to pull towards the top of the case to loosen the case cover.(view the following 2 images below to get the idea)

Now do the same for the left hand side at the rear as per the pic – This should successfully remove the rear side of the case cover…

….Now moving onto the Front Side…
Place your case opening tool into the tabs marked below in sequence, you could also just use your finger nails, or a small thin flathead screw driver to accomplish this task…gently pull the case upwards after each tab release to help open the cover.
